Standing At the Threshold of Motherhood
Motherhood is this intrinsic journey that begins not at birth, but from the time of conception. As a holistic doula trained through an Ayurvedic lens, Brooke recognizes the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. That’s why here at Aspired Mother we strive to support your whole being, as you go through this incredible time.
knowing how to meet motherhood well makes the first-year run smoothly
Brooke would love to join and support you along the way by helping you to feel confident in yourself and your abilities, well informed, emotionally and physically prepared for whatever your birth journey may bring.
Investing time in preparing for labor, birth and beyond is one of the best ways to connect with your baby and invest in yourself and in your relationship. This series of sessions are scheduled out ahead and designed to allow ample time to practice the pain coping techniques, breathing exercises, emotional processing, strategy identification, guided journaling, meditation, and more.
We strongly recommend participating in some form of prenatal class to prepare for various aspects of labor, birth, and parenting a newborn. Doing these sessions with our clients brings a whole new level of depth to our experience together! Within these sessions you will gain a deeper understanding of your belief system, your values, and your journey toward birth.
Note: Due to covid-19 we are holding all sessions virtually; however private in-home sessions are also available. For questions about avaialbility and scheduling, click here.
Continuous Labor Support
Whether you decide to birth in a hospital, birth center, or in the comfort of your home, we will offer continuous physical, emotional and informational support (in-person or remotely) for you and your partner from the very start of labor.
Our focus is to help you feel satisfied with your birth experience. Brooke and her team of backup doulas can help establish a calm environment, provide coping strategies and hands-on support, help you stay as close to your birth plan as possible, and support your transition and the initiation into feeding your newborn.
This is very much a team effort, so let go of the notion that you are expected to do it all yourself. Your partner will also appreciate the knowledge and extra set of hands.
In-home Postpartum Support & Newborn Care
Along with having a baby, you have so much going on within your body, your heart, and your spirit. You are transitioning out of being pregnant, recovering from birth, bonding, learning to care for a newborn and figure out the best way to keep your newborn nourished.
Parenting a baby is big, important, and often challenging work, and you absolutely deserve to be fully supported in your physical recovery and emotional adjustment to parenting a newborn. The duration of adjustment and recovery is very personalized as each body and birth experiences bring their own set of challenges, but in general it takes about a year.
Bringing Aspired Mother's Doulas into your home during this precious time can help you navigate the hormonal changes, light household organization to minimize overwhelm, running errands, assistance with newborn care and feeding, light meal preparation, baby soothing techniques, sibling care, babywearing, accompany to doctor appointments, and referrals to local resources.
Healing the Mind-Body Connection
According to Ayurveda, the first 42 days revives the lost art of caring for the mother after birth. As new Mothers are pushed by their careers to "bounce back" after birthing their baby and are often left alone to face the physical and emotional challenges of this new stage of their life.
The first 42 days provide a lifeline -- a source of connection, nourishment, and guidance -- as it is considered to be the most critical time in their life, full of adjustments, their body continues to transform, their feelings tend to be all over the place, and their sense of Self begins to morph.
If we look at the most common recurring challenges they may range from depression and other mood instability to aches and stiffness, constipation, gas bloating, joint and weight problems, and relationship challenges. This goes well beyond the Mother, themselves, the couple, the family and even the community will benefit from us taking the time to understand this triky period and prevent future problems.
Ayurveda is an ancient art and science of living and one of the oldest and most comprehensive system of traditional medicine in the world. By integrating ayurveda + reiki Brooke is able to offer her clients valuable insight into their needs through food, herbs, oil, massage, yoga, and more.
Early Termination, Miscarriage & Neonatal Loss
If you are facing a pregnancy loss you are not alone. Aspired Mother wants you to know that this is a journey that you do not have to travel alone. A loss during any week of your pregnancy deserves to be validated. Our Doulas are prepared to support in all aspects of pregnancy including infant loss. If you have just received news that your baby is incompatible with life, you are already experiencing the early signs of miscarriage, or you are having to make the decision to terminate the pregnancy, she can help.
If you have just received the news that your baby will be born sleeping or will not live longer than a few moments after birth, we are so sorry. You are probably feeling a lot of different emotions right now, or maybe you’re not feeling anything. Both are normal and neither is wrong. You do not have to go through this alone. We will meet with you before your birth and together we will talk about your baby, your birth, your options and what comes next. When labor begins, we will join you and your partner at the birth. You and your baby will be treated with the kindness and dignity that you both deserve. Brooke and/or her backup doula will stay after the birth for up to two hours while you recover from birth and bond with your baby.
Birth is not the end of your journey. Aspired Mother knows that when everyone around you seems to settle back into their old routine you are just beginning to adjust to the new world around you.
During the last two years, we found creative ways to assist growing families all over the country without having to meet in person! COVID-19 has helped Aspired Mother provide our offerings virtually to those in and out of state who were not permitted to have a professional support person at birth due to hospital policies.
Virtual services entail a total of 6-10 hours of prenatal education to help you prepare for birth (access to a folder of beautiful resources on birth and postpartum preparation), unlimited phone and text communication, and even unlimited support throughout labor. So far, Brooke has provided Virtual Labor and Postpartum Doula Support to those in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, and Utah! It would include Ayurvedic Postpartum Nutrition, Breast Care, Belly Binding, Mom and Baby Massage, and Womb Care guidance! Brooke will then make herself available to you once you bring your baby home.
We get it! Working with a doula is very intimate relationship, so we want to be sure there is a synergy by offering a complementary consultation.
